Producer Role

The role of a producer is one of service; service to you, to the music, and to the overall goal and vision of our endeavor. Within the role of producer, there are many ways to serve; repertoire and programming, engineer and sonic choices, venue decisions, facilitating of logistical and scheduling pieces, technical and musical guidance, project advice and developmental expertise, session time and project/resource management, the choosing of takes, digital editing, and the ability to interface closely with the engineer and artist throughout the mixing and mastering process. Every one of these processes is viewed and approached through the lens of service. In this way, the dreams of our musical endeavors become true collaborative acts, and achieve the highest level of fruition through partnership, connection, and the combined expertise of like minded individuals, who are ignited with the passion and singular focus of creating.

Together, we enter into a sacred place of music, and silence. Dan creates that space for us. He holds that place for us — and that is, truly, where music is made.
— Carolyn Surrick, gamba, Ensemble Galilei

A wonderful facilitator and sensitive musician, he draws the best out of the people around him and makes the whole process a delight.
— Sæunn Thorsteinsdóttir, cello
